Picking a babies name is a important decision for any parents. Every parent picks different names for different reasons. I personally picked my first child’s name from a magazine. I had the name picked out for many years before I even thought about starting a family. Some children are named after the parents friend or sometimes a relative. Usually the friend or relative is someone special to one or both of the parents.

Parents often pick baby names for the meaning. Most names have a direct meaning, while some names are derived from other or the combination of other names. Unique names are also often picked. Many celebrities pick unique names for there children. Babies are often named after days of the week, months of the year, and seasons of the year.

Don’t panic if you are having a hard time coming up with a baby name. First of all sit down with your mate and discuss what each other would and wouldn’t like in a name. If you need to, sit down with a piece of paper and write everything down as you go along. If your still having problems, take a look at all the names provided online.

Another place to look is in baby name books. You can always buy these books or check them out from your local library. If you picked out several names and still are having a hard time deciding on which name to choose. Try putting the names on a individual piece of paper and put it in a box for a drawing. So when you draw, whatever you pull out is the name you’ll go with. This should make it a little easier for you. Whichever name you decide to choose make sure you copy it down and carry a copy to the hospital with you.
